Lautaro Cuttica
Lautaro Cuttica, born in 1987 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, moved to Brooklyn, New York, at age 9. Graduating from the Cooper Union School of Architecture in 2011, his art combines Abstract Expressionism's gestural strokes with Modernism's nuanced spatial structures. His architectural background informs his ability to manipulate space in his paintings, which he then subjects to spontaneous, unpremeditated gestures. This interplay creates images that are both resonant and unsettling, evoking a "spatial uncanny" that disrupts sensory expectations. Cuttica's compositions, precise yet enigmatic, bear witness to his surroundings and the nature of painting itself. He resides and works in New York City.
